The Santa Fe River is a favorite in North Central Florida, its gentle waters returning after a long drought to provide many a day's enjoyment to fishermen, swimmers, and boaters. I'd shot this location before, during the drought, when I had walked into the middle of the riverbed to take pictures of turtles on rocks. This day, though, the river was full and the banks were lush. Looking northwards I saw a small wooden dock that in my mind's eye launched many a small craft on a meandering exploration of the river's springs and swales. A high contrast of sun and shade provided a perfect opportunity to showcase the river at its most glorious.
